The Burn On Cannabis
I believe that if cannabis is to be completrly legalized, the country would be worse off than it is. We already have problems minding out own buisness, so in our high stupor, there is no saying whether or not we will intervene in things that are worse for us as a whole. Not to mention, that our country is in debt already, and from the states that have legalized cannabis, the money that is made off of it does not seem to be anywhere close enough to even try to make up the debt. So there is the chance that we could fall deeper into debt. As to the claims that pot is not dangerous, the Canadian Press has done research and found that there is a stronger bud being grown and distributed throught the northern continent. That stronger bud is being passed through the communities by kids, of which have double the chances of getting high than adults. For those states who have legalized cannabis, most non smokers worry about those who smoke recreational cannabis in public. They do not want their kids to have access to it, but with it being smoked in public, the kids have open access to obtain the drug and can get a contact high from those smoking it. In some cases, a contact high can be a lot worse than a full blown high. The person who has the contact high may not know it so they get into a vehicle and attempt to drive, or some other kind of danger, and end up killing either themselves or some innocent person who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. An article done by the Associated Press, says that though weed is legal, people still drink. I would hope that people would have the common sence not to drink, smoke, and drive, but knowing alcohol and cannabis both effect the mind, people lose common sence. It worries me that people will not have the care to make sure they do not mix the drugs and cause even more serious problems for society. It puts me in a position of fear. I drive everyday, and to think that someone could potentially be drunk, high, and driving could slam into my car scares me. They could very well kill themselves, me, or any passanger that either one of us have in the car with us. My question is, who would be charged and what would the chsrges be? If I got charged and it was not my fault, I would be furious. Though I'm pretty sure most people who would be charged wrongly would be. In my honest opinion, cannabis should be highly illegal and those who smoke it are not worth my time. It is a filthy thing and I do not wosh to be associated with it.
